I have read that there is a professional group of people in San Francisco who do this on the Golden Gate Bridge Every. Single. Day.
Poor Maks. Keep the moped - it's been in a car accident and whoever owned it before probably won't want it back in that condition. Besides, you will be able to afford a better vehicle (or be given one to use by your employer) . You can -probably- find horrible pizza slices for a dollar. You need fuel for your moped (at least it doesn't use much, so that shouldn't cost much), and some type of roof over your head.
Also, next time you get paid, insist on smaller-denomination bills. It's actually not that easy to make change for a hundred, and a single bill is infinitely easier to lose (misplace, get wet and soggy, getting robbed) than multiple smaller ones you can carry in different pockets.

Judging by the way his mustache suggests just a hint of a smile, the "gesundheit" was probably intended to be a joke to break the tension. And judging by the subsequent grimace, he's probably aware that levity ain't gonna help much. Or so I choose to assume.
