Say to them,
say to the down-keepers,
the sun-slappers,
the self-soilers,
the harmony-hushers,
"Even if you are not ready for day
it cannot always be night."
You will be right.
For that is the hard home-run.

Live not for battles won.
Live not for the-end-of-the-song.
Live in the along.

Poem by Gwendolyn Brooks. A very interesting lady. I'm not much for poetry, but hers has a certain bite I can't get enough of.

Thank YOU everyone for sticking around and reading Now Hiring so far! I know this story has been rather grim so far with pinpricks of hope, but I do hope you'll hang on with me through this story. Because this is about resilience and choices.

Like last time, there's a break between updates so I can rebuild my buffer. I'm so excited about the coming events! Chapter 4 of Now Hiring "Errand boy, Errant boy " will be starting on June 1st!

I'm posting a commission piece next week and then sometime between now and June 1st I'll be posting a short development sketch dump thing. I believe some of you would be interested in that sort of content.

I'll answer some Q&A stuff too this month, so send those questions in :D

Get some rest, Maks. You’re going to need it.

Seeing as Maks is living in the Arizona area, the relative humidity must be at a low-enough point so as to NOT scald his lungs with every breath...

Well Nevada is in the Arizona area, it's very good that the humidity is low hahaha. At least, sig, this day is over.

:) that statement also assumes he has typical lungs

Q&A question: Can you do an "anatomy" sketch of Kio's race? Not sure if it was intentional or not, but she REALLY seems to have short legs and long arms. Are they closer to a "standard humanoid" a la Star Trek, or a more "alien" species?

Question for Maks:
We have seen what rain can do to you.
What about when it isn't quite raining, but the air's humidity is very high...?

Ooh! Good question, thanks, Micro!

Maks' statement at the end can be pretty helpful for when you're going through it, to be honest.

Question for Uncle 70s: What kind of magic do you perform?

It's what 70s uncle man said to him at the Skywalk!

There's more time for that later unfortunately. But yeah, tomorrow-- in comic time-- is a new day to get out of dodge.

time to leap out of one fire and into another

So maybe she does care after all, in the very end ....? Maybe. Maybe not. It can go either way.

Great work at keeping it ambiguous what she really thinks :))

She...does care, but it's filtered thru a lot of baggage. So perhaps it's something else.

:D Thank you for reading along!

I love that Maks still has some hope after the worst day ever. His life probably has plenty of difficulties in store, but this is an attitude of resilience.

He's a get-up guy. I'm really happy the resilience reads too. Because hooboy this chapter. ;_;
